Time for me

Today I took some time for me.  I'm not really sure I have that time to give myself, but heck, sometimes you've gotta make time.  Syd and I headed up to the Lost Creek Wilderness, only 90 minutes from home.  The drive up was just beautiful - there are still trees full of color down low and as we climbed into the hills, the grasses still had much color too.  And the moon.  It must have been full.  I wish I had stopped to take a picture of it's silhouette.  I thought about it more than once, but I had an awfully impatient dog in the car so I didn't stop.

We had the trail to ourselves - saw only one other person and his dog.  And it was lovely.  Syd sniffed vigorously -there must have been an assortment of animals in the low meadows because she had her nose glued to the ground. I didn't realize how much we climbed til I got home - boy are my glutes sore.  8760 to 11,180 over about 4 miles.

The light was pretty flat - some clouds kept it that way, but I noticed lots of textures and patterns down low.  And caught a few decent panoramas and one decent portrait :)

I can't believe after all these years I haven't spent more time in the Lost Creek Wilderness.  It's stunning and so close to home.  I look forward to returning with some human friends to summit Bison Peak.

And while I'd rather finish out the day on the couch, I need to clean, pack and do some school work.  But it was worth cramming into the late afternoon and evening to get away from the concrete and enjoy the peace and solitude of the wilderness!
